whoo.....oooh Halloween is almost here....

Nothing like waiting till the last minute for faculty Halloween costumes. Our school really gets into it. Well I had a great idea...more of a brainfart actually...we could all be beauty queens (simple get it? Tiara's & banners-easy) well then I decided we'd have to do a play on words so I came up with a few then got together and the meeting of the minds created an explosion. Here's what we came up with:

Miss understood (-reading teacher)
Miss read (me-reading teacher)
Miss Chief( our principal in a wig)
Miss guided(-guidance counselor)
Miss Tea(Our secretary who drinks tea)
Miss take or Miss behave(-behavior interventionist-she can't decide)
Miss Fit(-phys ed)
Miss step(Her student teacher-phys ed)
Miss conduct (Security guard in a wig)
Miss Hap (Cathy Happel-)
Miss inform(-student's aide)
Miss print(-librarian)
Miss calculate (math specialist)
Miss translate (-ESL)
Miss State (she wanted to be a Penn State grad)
Miss spoke (speech)
We'll have more by tomorrow I'm sure and I'll try to get pictures!

Pumpkin carving...

Tonight we decided we'd better get our pumpkins carved since Halloween is two days away! The kids drew the designs and we cut them out. After awhile, we let Austin try to do some cutting. I let Timmy try too, but we did the job hand-over-hand. Keep in mind we did use the safety pumpkin cutting tools, but they still have pointy edges. Our results are in the next entry below......

Jack-o-Lanterns!

Her are the finished results...

ROADBLOCK!

ACK! I've hit a snag! I am doing pretty well on the composition portions of my entry #4 entitled "Documented Accomplishments" but I've hit a roadblock. For entry #3 I must show strong evidence of speaking, listening, visual, and technological resources integrating a multi-disciplinary formatted lesson in a literacy setting. At first I was fine with this, much of what I do is quite diverse.......THEN I started to really delve in and was questioning myself. The video is segmented .......meaning clips, but the total minutes can be no longer than 15 with only 2 sections of start/stop. Fortunately I have friends who have been hearing me out all week on this (thanks Jean, Louann, & speech lady Karen) who have convinced me it can be done and the best way to approach it. Unfortunately I cannot tell you since National Board Certification is very serious about confidentiality. One good thing though.......I've also got a plan for entry #1 in the works-documenting and making educational plans for writing-I've even selected my student-but alas....I cannot divulge that either. Mums the word!

More PTA Reflections....Timmy's turn

These are the pictures Timmy wants to enter in the photo contest. Remember the theme is WOW! and he made these choices on his own (he originally wanted all his stuffed animals, but I talked him out of that one). Keep in mind he's only 5. Which one do you like?

Weekend soccer update-we had a tournament!

This weekend both boys played soccer. Timmy had practice sessions with the UK Elite and Austin had a game in the Poconos (where we also took photos-see previous entry).

On Sunday Austin had a tournament in Nazareth. It was a 3X3 game with four players to a team-no goalies and 12 minute games. They placed the kids into teams (some kids had never even met before). It was amazing how they communicated and worked together. Each team got points for winning, plus goal points, etc. and they gave out trophies. Austin played better than he ever has! He was aggressive in his kicking and running-we kept saying "who is that out there?" He scored and assisted numerous times-we thought he scored 6 goals, but it may have been more. His coach even came over from another game to see him play and was impressed. His team didn't get in the top 3, but they had to have been close. He didn't care because he said it was so much fun.

PTA RELECTIONS CONTEST

Austin wanted to enter this year's PTA Reflections contest, funny because I judge literature and dance choreography entries at my school. Anyway...he chose photography. The theme is WOW! Since we were in the Poconos on Saturday after his game I decided I'd let him use my camera and take some shots that he thought were WOW! Here's what we did. We drove down a quite lane in Snydersville, I pulled over on the side of the road here's what he saw......

Which one do you like? Please post a comment.......

Today there was no school so the boys played Talking Battleship. Timmy was able to set up his own coordinates and ships this time!

My Nieces

I couldn't resist posting these-aren't they cute? They were taken at a pony show that my neices participated in.

UK Elite soccer

Timmy's practices on Saturday include time with a group of young, professional soccer players who are so good with kids! They are called UK Elite.
Here's more pictures of Timmy having fun...

Pumpkin & Apple Picking!

Today we went to Strawberry Acres to pick apples & pumpkins. We took the new truck. In one of the pictures you can see Ray is keeping a close eye on it since there were some wild drivers! We rode in a school bus with the top cut off-it was quite a bumpy ride, but the weather and pickin' was good! We picked 2 boxes of apples-Red delicious & Jona Gold for baking. We brought our lunches and had a picnic in their tented picnic area. The kids milked the fake cow (see pic) and checked out the animals. There was also a giant slide to play on.

Our Newest Addition!

Yep! We Finally got rid of the Elmer Fudd -Green Acres Family Gredanza (I really didn't like that truck-87 Chevy Silverado-held together by rust) and got a new truck......well almost new! This is our very clean 2005 Chevy Silverado with crew cab-for the crew of course! Ray is in his glory!
Funny thing is I think our neighbors are going to think we don't like color....the truck is black, my SUV is silver, and his car is white...... Click on the pictures if you want to see closer.
